The Lunch for Life Purple Cow Shake-A-Thon is unique fundraising opportunity with all proceeds benefiting childhood cancer research through the Children’s Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation (CNCF). It’s simple and fun!

On May 27, 2008 between the hours of11:00 AM and 9:00 PM the Purple Cow restaurants have agreed to donate 15% of their revenues to the Children’s Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation. Please invite your friends to come and have dinner that night. There will be tons of prizes including a brand new computer and several Apple iPods. Individuals, groups and families can also help increase donations by obtaining sponsors for the number of shakes served at the Shake-A-Thon event in advance of the event.

Here’s how it Works

Set your own personal goal and then collect and raise funds for the Shake-A-Thon based upon the number of milkshakes served during the Lunch for Life Purple Cow Shake-A-Thon.

Set a goal and work to meet your goal! You can obtain pledges based upon the amount of Purple Cow Milkshakes that you anticipate being served or you can ask for a fixed pledge amount for your participation.

Sponsors can be friends, family, co-workers, classmates, friendly neighbors, etc. Anyone that you can think of that wants to help children with cancer – one shake at a time! (Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian when seeking donations)

Prizes

The child or family obtaining the most money in pledges will receive a brand new Apple iPod Classic.

Each Purple Cow restaurant has designated a local area school. The Dallas location has selected Christ the King School, the Plano location has selected Prestonwood Christian Academy and Fort Worth has selected Southwest Christian School. The designated school that generates the most sales for their location will win a brand new computer.

Each location will be hosting a five question trivia quiz. Stop by, order some food, and fill out the trivia quiz. If your correct quiz is selected from the drawing at your store you will win an iPod nano.

Fund Raising Tips

Educate your potential sponsors about neuroblastoma, Lunch for Life, the Children’s Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation, and the mission of the organization.
Ask your co-workers, friends, and relatives to sponsor you in this great cause.
Seek out companies that have matching gift programs. Ask around to see if they will match your goal.
Promote easy donations by encouraging a donated fixed amount (also called a flat pledge). Sponsors can simply donate any contribution amount up front.
You can seek sponsorship in honor or memory of a loved one. Let your potential sponsors know why the Shake-A-Thon is meaningful to you.
Design your own sign with your goal and mark your progress.
Create enthusiasm around your event by encouraging others to get involved and to help you raise money for CNCF!

Farr Jog-a-thon

Quynh Gibney, Candy Harrison and David Gibney. Quynh & David are the parents of Christopher Gibney who passed away on December 19th, 2007 from NB. Candy, a teacher at Farr Elementary School, organized a Jog-A-Thon fund raiser with the Farr Elementary PTA in honor of Christopher to benefit the CNCF. They raised over $3,000. Farr Elementary School is in Escondido, California near San Diego. David is a band teacher at Farr. The fund raiser had the support of the Escondido Union School District and students and families from several schools in the diverse community participated. 2006 NB Conference

Dear NB Families:

The Children’s Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation (CNCF) will not be holding a conference in 2006. This decision is based in part on obtaining the necessary funding, the time needed to secure such funding and also allow current research efforts time to mature in order to provide our families with the most up-to-date information.

The conferences will now be held every odd year starting in 2007. It will permit CNCF and interested families to hold fundraising events that will ensure the continuation of this forum of information sharing and family support. We feel the NB Conference is an integral part of the journey we are on. We are therefore seeking your help in holding fundraising projects to cover the costs of the conference and allow all families an equal opportunity to attend.

We anticipate a bigger and better conference in 2007 and will work to implement the many suggestions we have received over the years. Your input has been invaluable to us and serves as our building blocks for successful programs.

We would like to thank you for your prior attendance and look forward to seeing again in 2007.

2004 Children's Neuroblastoma Conference

The 3^rd Children’s Neuroblastoma Conference, 2004, was a tremendous success. Over 200 parents and grandparents attended this year’s program. Again we have to thank the Kemper Educational and Charitable Fund for the grant to make it all possible.

We want to especially thank the dedicated group of doctors who work so hard to unravel the mysteries of this disease and who study the emotional and psychological effects of families touched by cancer and how to cope with losing a child. Their commitment to our children, parents, brothers and sisters and extended family has not gone unnoticed.

The topics for the conference covered low, intermediate and high risk treatment options; long term side effects; OMS and neuroblastoma; T-cell and vaccine therapy treatments; a new study on bone metastases; the emotional effects of having a child with cancer; taking care of the siblings of children with cancer; the grieving process and a survivor’s story of life after neuroblastoma.

A very special thank you goes out to Kenna Anderson and Candy Daly for organizing the Kids Room activities for 80 children. And to all of the wonderful volunteers who participated in caring for the kids, including Dina Kapani - Make a Wish Foundation, Sandy Ring - Super Sibs, Marilyn Rabb Foundation, Noreen O'Connor and friends, Chevelle Bailey - Uhlich Children's Advantage Network and Ann Folan and friends.

The Children’s Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation (CNCF) sponsored its second Children’s Neuroblastoma Conference at the Hyatt Regency Chicago on June 26 to June 29, 2003.

Funded by a grant from the Kemper Educational and Charitable Fund and various donations, CNCF organized a group of 9 speakers including several of the leading Neuroblastoma researchers in this country who made presentations to the families.

CHILDREN’S NEUROBLASTOMA CONFERENCE 2002

The Children’s Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation (CNCF) sponsored the first Children’s Neuroblastoma Conference at the Hyatt Regency Chicago on June 27 to June 30, 2002.

Funded by a grant from the Kemper Educational and Charitable Fund and various donations, CNCF organized a group of 8 speakers including several of the leading Neuroblastoma researchers in this country. Also participating was the Children’s Cause, Inc., a nonprofit agency dedicated to education and advocacy on national issues in childhood cancer and Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northern Illinois.

While the parents were in meetings, the children were monitored and cared for in the “Kids Room” by a group of volunteers from Children’s Memorial Hospital; Bear Necessities, A Pediatric Cancer Foundation; Gilda’s Club; Make-A-Wish Foundation and family members. We even had a surprise appearance by Sponge Bob Square Pants.

Approximately 30 families from the N-Blastoma Online Support Group ( ACOR, Association of Cancer Online Resources, www.acor.org ), families from the Chicago area and other Midwestern states participated in this unique event. It provided an opportunity for the parents to learn more about this disease while their children played together in the “Kids Room.”

It was the goal of CNCF for the parents to become better educated about this disease and to develop a bond and an extended family with others who are experiencing the same thing. We also wanted to pamper the families for even just a day.

It was a tremendous success and we have already started working on ideas for the next Neuroblastoma Conference.

Friday, January 27, 2006 marks the kick-off to the Highland Park High School Charity Drive. This year’s beneficiary is the Children’s Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation (CNCF).

Activities of all kinds will be held throughout the month of February to help raise funds for neuroblastoma research. There is bowling, dances, auctions, shopping days and just about anything else you can think of. A schedule of events is available below along with flyers and grocery store “shop and share” coupons you can print and use. Be sure to tell your friends about this easy and simple way to help CNCF fund neuroblastoma research.

A great big thank you goes out to John & Mary Gorleski, the Charity Drive Committee, the students and faculty of Highland Park High School, and the community of Highland Park, IL. This is truly an unbelievable program you have initiated and developed into helping local charities such as CNCF achieve their goals. We are inspired by your dedication to making a difference in the lives of the young children stricken with neuroblastoma.

The Children’s Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation (CNCF) has once again been nominated as a designated charity for the CIBC World Markets Miracle Day. This year the program occurs on Wednesday, December 7, 2005.

This is a wonderful opportunity to help CNCF raise funds for neuroblastoma research and education. Please help us spread the word and ask friends, family and co-workers to participate.

Who is CIBC?
The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) was formed in 1961as a result of the merger of The Canadian Bank of Commerce and the Imperial Bank of Canada.

What is CIBC Miracle Day?
Each year, on the first Wednesday in December, CIBC's employees and clients participate in a major fund raising effort on behalf of children's charities throughout the world. The fund raising campaign is known as CIBC World Markets Miracle Day. Since it was founded in 1984, Miracle Day has raised over $100 million for children's charities in the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia, supporting over 1,000 charitable organizations.

On CIBC World Markets Miracle Day, the first Wednesday of each December, CIBC World Markets donates the amount equal to trade-generated fees and commissions to support children's charities.

How can I help?
If you are a trader or fund manager and have an active account set up with CIBC World Markets and trade, designate the Children’s Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation as your children’s charity on Wednesday, December 7, 2005.

If you do not have an active account with CIBC you can still participate if you “step out” or direct the commissions on trades to CIBC and designate Children’s Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation as the charity.

If you are not a trader or fund manager, but know someone who is, tell them about this wonderful way in which they can help fund neuroblastoma research and support the needs of the children and their families.

What does CNCF use the funds for?
CNCF uses the contribution to support neuroblastoma research and our annual educational service program.
